Does anyone reading this believe The US can continue to provide monies to other countries (Earthquake relief, Tsunami relief, Hurricane relief, Bank and Auto industry bailouts, forgiveness of Foreign debts, Military assistance as well as the $48 billion authorized by Congress to be used by 2013 for AIDS relief/research in Africa) and provide welfare and health care?Where do you think the US gets this money from?

There is a limit on how much the average American can pay in taxes before the incentive to succeed is removed and we can all prepare for becoming a Socialist or Communist government. Something needs to be surrendered...either Foreign Aid, Welfare, Healthcare, etc, but the pot the world expects the US to keep dipping into for more money is not bottomless and everyone needs to grasp that concept. We are more than 16,000,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars in debt!!!

If someone in this country is lacking something in their lives, it's time for to stop making excuses for it. There is no reason that people in this country cannot succeed...all of the tools and opportunities are there for the taking, but you have to go after it. Be accountable for yourself, work hard to achieve what you want and stop depending on others to provide you with the things you should be working to provide for yourself.

I believe this country is very charitable to those in true need and I would never want to deny assistance to anyone who is truly unable to provide it for themselves (elderly, developmentally disabled, physically challenged, etc). I also believe that there are far to many in this country that want something for nothing, are concerned mainly with what others can do for them, and are unwilling to do "whatever it takes" to improve their own lives because it seems like it's hard or inconvenient

It's a shame that the American spirit is withering on the vine and all I seem to hear is "gimme, gimme, gimme". Stop whining and start acting like Americans!

the health care bill Obama put through only covers the "very poor".....it does absolutely nothing for the working or middle class who has to foot the bill with higher taxes. The middle class is already shrinking into poverty let alone have to pay for 47 million people to have health care. All its doing is robbing peter to pay paul, as the old saying goes

another issue with that 47 million number. There has to be a considerable part of that population who could afford to buy insurance but just refuses to. People in their 20s and 30s who think nothing bad can ever happen to them. Case in point....my brother went without health insurance for 27 years because he thought it was a waste of money

Massachusetts had universal health care before the reform, and it's still private but they can't refuse people because they are sick and you get taxed for not having insurance

What is really killing us is the entitlement mindset of huge number of Americans coupled with a complete disregard for what is best for anyone else except themselves. Because this number is so large, there is an agenda in Washington to "capture the hearts and minds" (and therefore votes) of these people with governmental giveaways.
